Not as it stands: the SBTi assesses applications on the basis of an inventory in GHG Protocol format. A Bilan Carbone® V9 does not have to be redone, however: V9 provides a direct mapping to the 15 Scope 3 categories of the GHG Protocol, so conversion is a formatting task with no fresh data collection or recalculation. For a company planning an SBTi process, the simplest approach is to ask at the scoping stage for a deliverable in the 2 formats. Validation of the targets remains a separate procedure, carried out directly with the SBTi.
