Yes, from 18 August 2027. Operators placing batteries on the market must apply a due diligence policy for cobalt, lithium, nickel and natural graphite: supply chain mapping, assessment of social, environmental and human rights risks, a mitigation plan, notified body verification and an annual public report. The initial August 2025 deadline was postponed by 2 years through Regulation (EU) 2025/1561. Operators with net turnover below €40 million, outside a group exceeding that threshold, are exempt; the Omnibus IV proposal envisages raising the threshold to €150 million.
