Not before late 2027 for EV batteries. The declaration was due to apply in February 2025, but Article 7 makes it mandatory 12 months after entry into force of the delegated act setting the JRC calculation methodology, which had still not been adopted in summer 2026. Rechargeable industrial batteries above 2 kWh follow 18 months after that same act, then light means of transport batteries from August 2028 at the earliest. The declaration must be verified by a notified body, and a maximum footprint threshold, still to be set, will follow for EV batteries.
