The regulation in brief

What is the PPWR?

Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on packaging and packaging waste replaces Directive 94/62/EC. It applies to all packaging placed on the Union market, with no size threshold, and requires the company selling under its own brand to declare its conformity.

Our services

Our work on packaging

You need to respond to a client request, gather supplier documents or organise the procedures for several entities or countries. We help you define the actions and the people who need to be involved.

  1. 1

    PPWR assessment

We examine sales and transport packaging, markets and each entity's role to identify the PPWR requirements to consider. Extended producer responsibility (EPR) matters are addressed separately to define the procedures and contacts involved.

  2. 2

    Technical documentation

We prepare file templates, organise supporting documents and define the requests to send to suppliers. The work includes arrangements for validating and updating the information.

  3. 3

    LCA and eco-design

We compare materials, formats or reuse solutions based on their use and environmental impacts. The results inform packaging choices and document the assumptions adopted.

  4. 4

    Procedures and team coordination

We define actions, responsibilities and deadlines with your teams: documents to gather, supplier discussions and how to organise monitoring. For EPR procedures, we can define the need and coordinate discussions with specialist providers.

Deliverables

The documents that structure your PPWR work

Each project concludes with documents your teams can use and keep up to date. The previews below are fictional: they show the format of the documents.

Our method

How a project unfolds

  1. Define the packaging in scope

We specify product references, uses, markets and each entity's role in the value chain.

  2. Examine requirements and documents

We connect each packaging family with the points to examine and the information available from your suppliers.

  3. Prepare the work required

We organise document requests and useful studies, then identify the decisions to make with your teams.

  4. Organise monitoring

We present the findings, the points still open and an action plan with responsibilities and deadlines.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

The questions we are most often asked before starting a project.

Yes. The assessment can be a separate engagement. Together, we define the packaging to examine and the expected deliverables. Any documentation or eco-design work is then discussed in light of the findings.
No. An overview of the activity and the main packaging families is enough for an initial discussion. Product references, technical data sheets and supplier information already available will help us define the collection process.
Life cycle assessment (LCA) informs environmental impact assessment and design choices. Compliance also requires examining the applicable requirements and the corresponding evidence. We distinguish these tasks in the engagement proposal.
We prepare a proposal after an initial discussion. It sets out the scope, the data to gather, the deliverables and the stages of the engagement. The quotation reflects the work to undertake and how your teams are organised.
