Scope 2 covers the emissions linked to energy that the company buys and consumes without producing it: mainly electricity, but also district heat and steam. In France, the electricity mix is 92% low-carbon thanks to nuclear power, with an emission factor of around 57 gCO2e per kWh, against 385 in Germany and 773 in Poland. Scope 2 therefore rarely exceeds 5 to 10% of a French company's footprint. International standards provide for 2 calculation methods: a location-based method, which uses the grid mix, and a market-based method, which uses the supply contract.
