You face an administrative fine of up to €7,500 per tonne of packaging, a periodic penalty payment per day and commercial difficulties: customers and online marketplaces increasingly require the unique identifier. It is still possible to join late, but contributions cover all packaging placed on the market since 1 January 2027.
