The studies we read do not show this: the Stanford study measured a gap by age, among 22-25 year olds, without establishing its cause. In the United States, in a sample of payroll records, their employment fell by about 11% in the most exposed occupations and rose by about 10% in the others between November 2022 and June 2026, with no comparable gap among older employees. When the authors took into account the share of higher-education graduates in each occupation, the estimated difference between the most exposed and the least exposed group of occupations was halved or more, depending on the sample (our calculation). In France, Insee, the French national statistics office, found that employee jobs held by 15-29 year olds, excluding work-study trainees, in IT activities fell by 7.4% over 1 year to the end of 2025, a fall it considers impossible to attribute directly to AI alone.
