There are uses, mainly in industry and transport. According to the International Energy Agency, existing AI applications could avoid the equivalent of about 5% of energy-related emissions in 2035 if they were widely adopted. The agency points out that nothing guarantees this adoption and that rebound effects, meaning new consumption made possible by these gains, could cancel part of it out.
