You need to collect data on 4 emission sources: the equipment fleet (workstations, screens, smartphones, printers, on-site servers), cloud services hosted in providers' data centres, networks (estimated from the volume of data exchanged) and an emerging source, generative AI. In France, equipment manufacturing accounts for 70 to 80% of a company's IT carbon footprint, because electricity there is low in carbon. You therefore need to record the number and type of equipment, their average lifespan and cloud consumption, ideally with the providers' emissions reports.
