No AI is eco-friendly in itself. We cannot name the most eco-friendly one: we found no figures that can be compared across providers. The footprint of an answer depends first on model size (about 100 times more energy per token for a model with 70 billion parameters than for a small one) and on reasoning mode, then on the country of the servers, which affects the emissions. A small model, without reasoning mode, on servers powered by low-carbon electricity, is the most frugal choice, whichever provider you use.
