The op-ed published in the French daily Le Monde on 18 June 2026, signed by 150 people according to AFP, gives reasons that we group into 5 categories (in our translation of the text published by its initiator): the mass theft of data, articles and works; synthetic images and deepfakes; jobs and the abilities of young people; energy and water consumption; and a vision of society that it judges to be founded on the marginalisation of human beings. It calls on everyone who is not obliged to use generative AI to boycott it.
