Questions and answers

What is the difference between an EPD and an FDES?

FDES is the French format (construction, INIES database, specific RE2020 requirements); EPD is the international format supported by ECO Platform programmes. They share the EN 15804+A2 foundation, but an international EPD is not automatically acceptable for a RE2020 calculation: the target market must be considered before the document.

How much does an EPD cost and how long does it take?

For an individual EPD produced with a consultancy: typically €10 to €30k and 3 to 6 months, including LCA, depending on product complexity and availability of factory data. Collective EPDs produced by trade associations reduce unit cost but average out performance.
