The scheme in brief

What is environmental labelling?

In France, environmental labelling for clothing takes the form of an environmental cost calculated with Ecobalyse, the public tool, using the European Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) method. It remains voluntary; since 1 October 2026, a third party may calculate and publish a garment's cost without the brand's consent.

Our services

From product to environmental cost

From supplier data collection to calculation, we support your teams in preparing labelling suited to your sector. We document data, methodological choices and results.

  1. 1

Initial calculations on a product selection

We choose the product references to study with you and carry out an initial calculation. The analysis identifies important data, missing information and the conditions for extending the work to the range.

  2. 2

    Supplier data collection

We organise information on materials, manufacturing stages and production countries. The data received is assessed; choices of default values and areas to improve are explained.

  3. 3

    Calculation and documentation

We calculate results using the method suited to the products and intended use. The file retains parameters, sources and the method version so that calculations can be tracked.

  4. 4

    Labelling preparation and monitoring

We prepare the information for product, communication and commercial teams. The work includes arrangements for updates when product references or supplier data change.

Deliverables

The data and calculations behind the labelling

Each project concludes with documents your teams can use and keep up to date. The previews below are fictional: they show the format of the documents.

How a project unfolds

  1. Define the product scope

We specify product references, product characteristics and the assessment method suited to the project.

  2. Gather supplier data

We organise the collection of compositions, processes and traceability data needed for the calculation.

  3. Calculate indicators

We carry out assessments, examine data quality and document the assumptions adopted.

  4. Prepare the results presentation

We bring together results and evidence for your teams to use and update.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

The questions we are most often asked before starting a project.

The tool carries out calculations using the parameters entered. We help choose product references, gather and assess data, interpret results and organise updates. The level of support depends on what your teams already do.
We examine the information available and the values usable in the method. The study specifies what your suppliers have provided, what relies on default values and which data to request first.
Labelling frameworks differ by product category. We check the method and presentation rules suited to your range before defining the study. The French environmental cost for clothing does not automatically transfer to another sector.
We prepare a proposal after an initial discussion. It sets out the scope, the data to gather, the deliverables and the stages of the engagement. The quotation reflects the work to undertake and how your teams are organised.
