What is a textile eco-design approach?

1111 questions from 157 articles available in English.

It is an approach aiming to reduce a garment's environmental impact across its full life cycle, from fibre to end of life, using life cycle assessment. LCA measures 16 impact categories under the European PEF method, and the French Ecobalyse methodology adds microfibres released during washing and textile waste exports outside Europe. Results help prioritise design decisions (fibre, dyeing, durability, care instructions) and feed environmental labelling, the digital product passport and retailers' scope 3 data requests.
