The first is reducing the concentration of high-impact ingredients (exotic oils, heavy preservatives, complex fragrances) where performance allows. Next come replacing petrochemical emulsifiers with plant-based alternatives not originating from deforestation, and upcycling agricultural co-products (grape pomace, olive stones, citrus peel). For rinse-off products, formulation also affects the use phase: textures reducing rinsing time by 20 to 30%, low-temperature effectiveness and solid formats. Every substitution is checked through LCA, as a surfactant from imported coconut oil can emit 2 to 3 times more than a European synthetic one.
