The first lever is physical durability: because impact is related to the number of uses, doubling a garment's lifespan divides its impact per use by 2 in an LCA, without affecting the official environmental cost. Next come dyeing and finishing (dry dyeing, closed-loop systems), fibre choice assessed across several indicators rather than carbon alone, and locating spinning and weaving in a country with decarbonised electricity. The manufacturer can also reduce use-phase impact through product quality and care instructions: cold washing, air drying.
