Global Footprint Network lists more than 100 measures in 5 categories (cities, energy, food, population and ecosystems) as part of its #MoveTheDate campaign. Decarbonisation remains the dominant measure: carbon accounts for 61% of the global ecological footprint in 2026, and according to Global Footprint Network, halving fossil fuel emissions alone would move the date back by 3 months.
