It depends mainly on the manufacturing assumptions and the comparator. For a 60 kWh compact car, the ICCT finds around 17,000 km on the average EU mix compared with a petrol car. ADEME, with a battery made in Asia and compared with a non-plug-in petrol hybrid, uses around 70,000 km in France (2022 and October 2026 opinions), less than 20,000 km for a 22 kWh city car and more than 100,000 km for a 100 kWh battery. Over a lifetime of 200,000 km or more, the electric car remains ahead in every case, and gets there faster with a smaller battery.
