For climate impact, yes, in all European electricity mixes documented in 2025. The ICCT gives -73% on the EU mix (63 g CO2e/km over the full life cycle compared with 235 g for petrol). Even in Poland, Europe's most carbon-intensive mix, and with a battery made in China, the electric car retains a -37% advantage (T&E 2022). On other environmental indicators (mineral resources, human toxicity, ionising radiation), the electric car performs worse: it is not perfect, but it is better on what matters most for climate by 2050.
