Because mattresses’ environmental scores could become public. Furniture environmental labelling is being prepared (method under development, no decree published to date): eventually, every mattress will be able to display an LCA-based score. The future European digital product passport will require the same data, and professional buyers (hotels, local authorities, public procurement) already request them. A manufacturer that has completed its LCA knows its levers and can improve its score before publication, whereas others will have to produce it urgently, with providers at capacity.
