What is the difference between an EPD and an FDES?

1111 questions from 157 articles available in English.

An FDES is an EPD, specifically the French version of an EPD for a construction product. Every FDES complies with ISO 14025 (which defines EPDs), plus the sector standard EN 15804+A2 (specific to construction products) and its national complement NF EN 15804/CN. A product with a valid FDES therefore, by definition, has a valid EPD on the European market. The reverse is not true: a German or Italian EPD cannot automatically be used in a RE2020 calculation if it has not been submitted to INIES and verified under the French protocol.
