No: €45 per tonne in 2020 euros, or about €56.5 in 2025 euros, is a trigger threshold. If it is exceeded for 2 consecutive months, allowances are released from the market stability reserve, 20 million currently and 40 million once the decision voted through by the European Parliament on 15 September 2026 is adopted. The price may remain above it if demand justifies this; the mechanism applies until the end of 2029.
