Generic environmental claims without demonstrated excellence: "ecological", "green" or "sustainable" used without evidence or detail ("natural", a composition claim, is not included but must remain accurate); in France, these bans await the transposing law. The list is not exhaustive: it is the generic, unsubstantiated nature that makes the claim unlawful, rather than the word itself. A generic term backed by recognised excellence (the EU Ecolabel, for example) remains possible. Separately, "biodegradable" and "environmentally friendly" do not wait until 2026. They have already been banned in France on products and packaging since 2022 under the anti-waste law (known as the AGEC law), and no evidence can make them permissible.
