RE2020 has been mandatory for all new residential buildings since January 2022 (individual houses, apartment buildings). For non-residential buildings, the extension has been gradual since July 2022. Since 1 May 2026, Decree No 2026-16 extends it to specific non-residential buildings (hotels, shops, healthcare, sport...) and industrial and craft buildings. The building permit cannot be issued without an RE2020 compliance certificate within the mandatory scope.
