Climate Transition Plan

Formal decarbonisation roadmap aligned with a 1.5°C pathway, required by CSRD (ESRS E1-1) and CSDDD.

Full definition

The climate transition plan has become mandatory in Europe: ESRS E1-1 under CSRD (from the 2024 financial year for Wave 1) and CSDDD Article 22 (from 2026). Must describe: (1) the quantified scopes 1+2+3 decarbonisation pathway aligned with the Paris Agreement (1.5°C), (2) concrete levers by emissions category, (3) allocated investments and CAPEX, (4) internal governance (who decides, who monitors, indicators), (5) assumptions and risks. The UK Transition Plan Taskforce (TPT) published a reference framework in 2023. Do not confuse it with a simple Bilan Carbone® (a snapshot at a point in time) or with an unquantified Net Zero pledge (which commits to no operational action).
