Can you claim a "carbon-neutral" event?

1111 questions from 157 articles available in English.

Technically possible, commercially risky, legally exposed. Since 2023, DGCCRF has penalised unsubstantiated claims, and the European EmpCo Directive has prohibited any neutrality claim based on offsetting since 27 September 2026. Since 2022, ADEME has recommended avoiding this wording. Defensible practice is to publish the total footprint, reduction actions implemented and any offsetting of residual emissions with complete traceability (project, methodology, third-party verification). A documented reduction trajectory is infinitely more credible than a neutrality badge.
