Full definition
Standardised labelling communicating a product’s environmental footprint to consumers, based on an LCA using an enhanced PEF EF 3.1 methodology. In France, governed by the Climate and Resilience Law (2021), then Decree 2025-957. Timeline: voluntary labelling for textiles and clothing since 1 October 2025, publishable by a third party from 1 October 2026; voluntary for food since May 2026, furniture framework under development. Official tool: Ecobalyse (Beta.gouv.fr). Do not confuse it with the European DPP (digital product passport, richer information, ESPR coverage across multiple sectors), with EPDs (voluntary construction declarations, EN 15804+A2), or with the EU Ecolabel (qualitative logo without a quantified LCA).
